About
Ember Questions is a simple yet interactive journey for kids to discover what it means to belong to their church family. In our digital age, we want to provide a tangible alternative for spiritual growth in the family of God. The cards and curriculum are designed with 3rd-5th graders in mind but can be enjoyed by everyone. It has been our joy to discover how well Ember Questions strengthen relationships while achieving spiritual growth and biblical understanding. Born out of love for our local church, we believe Ember Questions will bless you and your church family.
Our Story
Arielle Dortch, Matthew Pursley, and Jacob Fisher were privileged to be a part of an exciting new church plant in San Diego, CA. called Park Hill Church. One Sunday, Matthew noticed his sons obsessing over popular trading cards. As they played, new kids were quickly becoming old friends. The thought came to him, what if our kids are starving for something real, not just something on a screen, but something they can hold in their hands? What if, with all of the fictional video games, superhero movies, and space fantasies being consumed, what young hearts really desired was to put their hope in something real and true? Matthew, Arielle, and Jacob teamed up to create Ember Questions, spiritually rich trading cards that can be used around the dinner table or in a classroom.
The name Ember Questions was taken from an ancient church festival called Ember Days. Ember Days celebrated God’s generosity by giving gifts of charity to those in need. During the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther revived Ember Days to educate children and illiterate church members with theological and biblical truth. Following the reformation, a renaissance of biblical literacy flourished for generations as evangelists, missionaries, and theologians took the gospel to the ends of the earth. Our prayer is that for the next five hundred years or so, if paper still exists, Ember Questions will continue to leave an inheritance of devotion to God, His Word, and His World.
A Valuable Resource
Engaging with the Bible can be a challenge. With Ember Questions, you can capture minds and adventurous spirits to see the Bible in a fresh and exciting way. Using modern language, Ember Questions presents biblical themes that are interesting and educational for adults and kids alike. When a new card travels home, it creates an opportunity to talk about the Bible throughout the week. Everyone should experience what it means to be a part of God’s family. As we teach kids to nurture God's promises, we ignite an ember of hope that brings light to the world. In these early and formative years, we can fan into flame a hope that lasts a lifetime.
